Friday's harvest

Forgot to post pictures of harvest from friday so posting them now - mix of salads and rhubarb.
My honey bought me a new toy - electronic food scale so I can get accurate measures now.
that's 2 lbs and 13.5 oz of rhubarb! i see Grany's pie in the future (the white tray was on the scale when it was zeroed out)
Mixed salads - 7.8 oz
arugula, parsley and dill all came up to 5.2oz - the package was not counted in the weight.

  2. What a gorgeous harvest of rhubarb! Well, actually everything is gorgeous, but that rhubarb is extra special :-) I see Granny's pie in your future, too.

Don't you just love your new scale? I finally bought one this year, and I love being able to weigh to the nearest tenth of an ounce! My old one only weighed up to 4 pounds, and the new one goes to 12 pounds. No more standing on the bathroom scale, holding the squash in my arms!

    1. Thank you Granny, and yes there will be a pie in my future. I love my new scale! It can hold up to 15 lbs so much better than 4 lbs on old one so no more bathroom scales here either :)

  3. What a thoughtful gift! My new scale broke and I took it back. I went to buy one yesterday but couldnt find one I liked at the store I was at, so I'm probably going to order another one off Amazon. I love the digital scales that lets you set a tare weight and weighs to the nearest tenth of ounce or gram. I want one to weigh all my harvests and I have to have one when making soap.

    1. it's crisp, fresh and crunchy but very very tart! It's almost impossible to eat fresh but very good in jam or a pie :)

    2. One of the blogs I subscribe to had a recipe for rhubarb barbecue sauce from The Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving. If I get enough rhubarb this year, I'm giving it a try!

    4. I think I'd use the stick blender on it to make it smooth, but I'll bet it's good! Let me know, OK?
