Harvest June 15

This week harvests are mostly berries and greens. Cabot strawberries finally starting to ripen but not as much as we had last year, so I've been freezing up berries for now and will combine them into a jam later on.
Lots of greens were picked as I want to get them out before heat wave - it will be 88 this week and they turn bitter when it's hot.

And quick overview of the community garden - it's growing much better than my home garden! And much better organized :) I even found some formed peppers and sniped few basil stems.

  1. I'm so impressed with everyone who weighs all their produce! Yours all looks so tasty and healthy. Well grown!

    1. oh no, we're not getting everything on the scale by any means! A lot of our stuff gets eaten right in the garden. I have a bad habit of 'grazing" as I pick :) plus some stuff never makes it home if my neighbors come to visit while I'm there and they end up with basket full of veg.

  2. Beautiful harvests. I wish I was getting that many berries in a picking. And I went out today and picked some lettuce. I really hope what is left holds up to the heat coming. I would hate to lose it.

    1. Hope your greens will make it through the heat. There is more than half still left in beds in our garden but I run out of storage area. Will probably pick more today and give it away at the office.

  3. Berries and greens sound like a great thing to have! Is that rhubarb or chard in one photo? If it's rhubarb, it sure is red.

  4. Nice greens. And you have that beautiful ruby-colored rhubarb and strawberries! Strawberry-rhubarb crisp or pie? Maybe both? Need a big tub of vanilla ice cream.

  5. That is a lot of strawberries! We have only harvested a handful so far, but they are only starting, so we'll have to wait and see. And the pepper plant looks so good - it's always a good day when we see that first pepper or tomato on our plants.

    1. It's actually very small harvest if you consider how many plants we have. And hope yours will start to roll in fast and soon.
