Tuesday harvest

Because it's so wet and cold out, I didn't do anything in the garden today other than picking some greens for dinner. Of course when I was there I spotted couple of nice beets so I had to yank them out, and then I pulled out two kohlrabi for my snacking, and sniped a head of broccoli. Kale will be tossed with sausage and peppers into a dinner meal, and dill is going to mashed potatoes (I like it that way).
Then I visited small garden and picked out some of the strawberries. They seem to start getting a bit larger but still allot of misshapen ones. I do hope once it gets steadily warm they'll improve.
And look what I spotted in the garden - first pepper formed! it's a chili pepper so not very exciting, but it's first and I'm sure I'll find use for it. Sweet peppers are definitely not in a hurry to grow this year but I hope they'll pick up speed and production in July.

  1. Hi! I was just commenting tonight that my green peppers don't seem to be growing much so it was interesting to read yours aren't either. I thought maybe I was just an impatient gardener! Your strawberrys are better than mine! Nancy

    1. Peppers are usually slow to start and they grow best when it's above 85 degrees. Hopefully they'll pick up soon.

  2. Your beets looks so good. Mine seem to be stunted and I have leaf miners attacking.

    1. Mine are actually very small comparing to what they should be but then I always have hard time with the size. I didn't want to keep them in groung much longer because they will get woody and don't taste good. I covered my bed to protect them from leef miners.
