First week of August Harvest

Community garden ramping up on tomato production, so I picked a basketful to bring home to finish ripening. Most of these went back to the kitchen this morning, I kept 3 for salad for lunch together with some of the cucumbers.

Few items were picked and measured directly at the plot and brought straight to the kitchen without taking home - cabbage and zucchini. I even had a local "helper" who carried everything for me. :)
At home some of the tomatoes are also trickling in - enough just for eating but not for preserving. Together with some beans and wineberry that was my main snack time.

  1. Lovely assortment you have there. Good thing for the community garden after your critter problems at home.

  2. I tried to track the weight of my harvest, but it only lasted the first couple of weeks! I like how you take a pic of the scale, easy to track that way! Nice assortment of tomatoes.

    1. Sometimes I forget to take pictures and realize after we already ate something, but for most part it gets weighted. Now i just need to find time to update spreadsheet with totals from those pictures :)

  3. Can't complain about that harvest. Look at all those big slicers. I'm weeks away from getting some of those this year. And nice cabbage.

    1. The biggest one from the first picture (all the way on the right) was not included on the scale - I think it's over 1 lbs. I'll do another post on varieties to include.

  4. Lovely harvests. I don't know if I've ever seen that other scale of yours. Do you just bring it out for the really big things? Or does it live at the community garden?

    1. I bought it last year for the community and it stays in the shed - it can weight up to 40 lbs, which is what we needed when we do "full basket" right on the spot.

  5. Beautiful tomatoes and great variety of goodies. Like David, I too am at least a week or two away from harvesting any slicing tomatoes.

  7. Lovely harvests! Nice to have a big scale on location. I thought I broke my kitchen scale trying to weigh too many melons at once.
