Community harvest and for the love of PEAS!

Another quick trip to the community garden and I have fresh beans, another head of broccoli and couple of side shoots, 4 zucchinis and a handful of basil with chard. Loving it.
But my highlight was peas - no, not my own. These are from the Hesperides Organica CSA Farm the U-Pick section. Or rather what u-pickers didn't pick and these would be too old to pick by Saturday, so I got to take them. Their vines are LOADED and I could probably pick 30+ lbs if I really had a mind to it, but my goal was simple - save whatever peas are getting old. Freeze for winter. Storm drove me out before I could pick too much, but I'll be back tomorrow for more.  What can I say, I hate waste of food and this is my part of saving it.

  1. I too hate to waste anything - how fantastic that you were able to load up on those peas.

    1. It's a win-win for both sides, food not wasted and I get peas for winter.

  2. Lovely harvests. I hate the waste too. It is one of the reasons I give away so much of my produce. I want it eaten.

    1. Same here, I give away what we can't eat to others - it keeps my officemates very happy.
