End of July Harvest

This week was finally cool enough to do some work in the garden and keep picking. Not much, but plenty to eat for us, including one of my larger onions - coming at 11.8oz.  Loved how it felt in my hand. Also picked were zucchini, soybeans, tomatoes, potatoes and peppers.

More pickings from community garden as well - cucumbers overload, zucchini and tomatoes.
This week I have to be on the road so most of the harvest will be picked by others at the plots - better than going to waste by overgrowing.

  2. That's a big onion! I just pulled my yellow onions and most were pretty small. The rest of your harvest is great, I'm particularly admiring those tomatoes. Have a nice trip.

    1. Actually most sof my onions are small and medium size, it's only few that were planted in a patch of manure that are really big. And thanks, I love my tomatoes too!

  4. That is a HUGE onion, lovely harvest. My soy beans should be ready soon, need to get to them before the critters.

    1. I think I pulled soy a bit too early but i was afraid that bunnies would get them. They were very tasty boiled.

  5. Jenny, I am sorry you have been hit with a heat wave, but your harvests look great. I am jealous of all those tomatoes, but I am not getting good harvests at all. I planted 16 plants this year and I thought I would have tomatoes galore, but nope been too wet. I have hard enough for sandwiches and a few meals, but not enough to put away.

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your lost tomatoes, many of mine don't produce anything this year either and just died off without any fruit. hope next year will be better.

  6. Your tomatoes and cucumbers are really producing, and they looks so pretty! My tomatoes are scarred up from splitting open because of the rain.

Are you going to make pickles with your lovely pile of cucumbers?

    1. Thanks, I also have plenty of tomatoes that split this week after late Sunday rainstorm. And yes, we've made many jars of pickles already.
