Community Garden first harvest

What can you get from 3 zucchini plants? How about over 13 lbs of zucchinis in one picking! That's because I was on the road for a week and wasn't able to get to some of these in time so they got much larger than I'd like them to be. But, at the community kitchen I don't think they care as long as they have something to feed the hungry. So Monday morning this bunch will be delivered to the kitchen.
And I also picked 4 cucumbers - just over 1lb in weight and there are about a dozen small ones on the vine.
For now I'll keep community garden totals separate so I can see how it's producing.

  1. Hi Jenny, 13 lbs of zucchini is a lot! I am like you and like them small but if your hungry you are thankful for anything. 4 cukes already. Mine have not even blossomed yet! Have a good Sunday! Nancy

    1. It is a lot of zucs but with the heat and all this rain they're growing like crazy! My cucumbers and squash at home are much slower - barely starting to bloom.

    1. I love that I can share with others. I give all extras from my own garden at work, and grow community garden veggies for the kitchen.

And I can't wait to get more cucumbers and pickle them!

    1. My home zucchinis just started blooming earlier in a week and cucumbers are definitely behind the schedule. I guess community garden gets more sun than my own.
