Preserving for winter

I haven't been posting much about preserving this year, but yes we are doing the canning things - tomato sauces, blueberry and strawberry jams, peach and sour cherry preserves, pickles.
Peach preserves anyone? Definitely have enough for winter.
the same can be said about pickles. Not so sure about the taste yet as there are different recipes.

  1. The things that you have preserved look good. I like the satisfaction of looking at it on my shelves but don't especially enjoy the process, do you? Canned tomato juice today and froze up stuffed green peppers. I know they will taste so good this winter. Are peach preserves the same as peach jam? Nancy

    1. I actually do like the preserving part - takes my brain away from work :)

peach preserve is softer than jam, less pectin and less sugar. it's great on pancakes or waffles or even on toast.

    1. I would prefer to have fresh year round but with our winters it's not possible so we'll enjoy frozen, dried and canned fruit and veggies instead :)
