This week we have greens overload. I picked many salads, arugula, kale, and lots of herbs like parsley, thyme and oregano to dry for later. Also picked spring onions and one smallest garlic that I could find - just to see if the head started to form.
Totals for this week were:
Alliums: 3.7
Salads: 49.5
Kale: 10.4
Herbs: 27.6
First two ripe strawberries were picked and eaten on the spot! but more are ripening for later. It was too good to wait. And a first snow pea!
Oh my! You do have a lot of greens! But they look good and aren't they delicious! Yummy looking strawberries even if there are only two! My snow peas won't be ready for quite awhile. Can't wait! Nancy
ReplyDeleteThey were so good! nothing really compares to fresh greens right from the garden with crisp sweet taste. There are about 6 more strawberries showing color but will wait till they fully ripe to pick any more of them. Good luck with your snowpeas!
DeleteWhat a haul and those strawberries! Nice size! Hope no frost for you tonight.
ReplyDeleteThank you, we did get a slight frost but damage was minimal. Hope the rest of the year will be better. And we're peaking at the greens right now, so if the heat comes in they'll turn bitter. That's why i'm taking them in and giving to all friends and coworkers - better they use it now than waste.
DeleteThat's a lot of salad there. It's good you're giving some away to lucky friends. Last year I decided I was growing too many perishables so this year I am experimenting with devoting more space to things I can store like onions and garlic.
ReplyDeleteWe do eat a lot of salad and many of my coworkers love it. At the same time I do plant many things to store - beans, potatoes, 50 tomato plants, 25 peppers, over 200 onions planted and 40+ garlic heads. Not to mention squashes, cucumbers and other goodies.
DeleteThe first of anything from the garden is always the tastiest.
