Harvest July 23-29

I cave in and upgraded my account so I could post pictures again.. so here it is - Harvest starting with many pictures from first half of the week.. scroll down for second half afterwards and please be patient.
I couldn't resist to slice one of the Cherokee Purple for my sandwich... YUM!
Ok, back to picking.. Wednesday night was our first cabbage and more carrots.
Then there were more tomatoes..
And squash with cucumber and peppers and some other goodies that did  not make group picture..
Total week is just over 67 lbs of veggies, makes me very happy. Now I need to get chest freezer as I'm completely out of space in my own fridge and freezer.
Edit: Opps, forgot greens - Kale, Swiss Chard and eggplants.

  1. Oh, what a beautiful BIG harvest! You're gong to catch up with me soon!

I'm surprised you've run out of picture space. I've posted thousands in the past four years, and last time I checked I was only half way to my limit. Do you not use the default for Blogger, Picasa? It would also help if you resized them before uploading, the originals are really large.

    1. Oh you're way ahead of me on totals this year! I'll be happy to reach 500 lbs by the end of the year but it's doubtful as my tomatoes are not producing as much as I hoped for, and my my winter squash and pumpkins were eaten by deer. But there are more potatoes to dig so I hope to meet my target.

For pictures I've been uploading maximum resolution to get better quality so they're on average 2-3 mg each. I deleted quite a few older pictures so those who are new will probably see blanks but at the end I just decided not to worry about it and upgraded to 25 gig space.

    1. Thank you, my hubby got it for me on Amazon and I love it. It can weight up to 15 lbs at the same time so much more efficient for kitchen. And it can be switched to metrics which I often need as i bake few things from my past.

    1. We've been freezing quite a bit of veggies, and potatoes with onions will be stored in the garage for winter. Tomatoes will be turned into sauces and salsa as well. Thankfully we have second pantry for that. But I'm working on getting a new chest freezer :)

  7. 67 pounds for the week! Just wow! And such a varied harvest as well.

And, just food for thought... we purchased a deep freeze 3 or 4 years ago. We went with the stand-up model with shelves rather than the chest freezer for ease of use (things not being packed way down at the bottom). ust wanted to throw that out for you to think about if you end up buying a freezer :)

    1. Stand up freezer is a good idea but we have to find a place for it first.

  8. What a bountiful and varied harvest. I too prefer an upright freezer over a chest freezer.

    1. We have space in the addition to place it but I really have to consider cost vs savings.

    1. thank you, but my tomatoes are really not producing well this year if you consider insane amount of plants that are in the ground. I should be swimming in them by now and i'm not even close.

  13. I'm growing Cherokee purple for the first time this year and I too ate one myself on a BLT sandwich. So good! You have quite a harvest there. I guess now you know what tomatoes are what as they produce the fruits.
