End of September harvest

This week's harvest is very basic - herbs, onions, potatoes and peppers and a handful of remaining tomatoes. Not in the picture are radishes, turnips, kale and beans - they were eaten before I realized that pictures were not taken.  After all that parsley was cleared from bed we found a nice watermelon still growing - its stem is still green so we're not picking it just yet.
Garden season is coming to an end we had few nights dipping down to 37 so frost is coming soon. In the garden we have carrots seeded, more kale, broccoli and cauliflower but it depends on how much longer we'll get sunny weather for all this to grow. I still hope to see some fall produce.

Visit Daphne's Dandelions to see how other gardeners are doing with their harvest each Monday.

  1. Watermelon? Out in that weather? Better buy it a jacket. LOL. Hope you are able to get to ripe for a wonderful late season harvest. :-)

    1. I was just as surprised - all our melons that we planted in may died off before they could produce anything, and this was a "volunteer" i guess from compost that was added in spring.

  2. A nice looking week this week! We flirted with frost this week too, but some how made it without loosing any plants. We too are hoping for enough warm weather to get our broccoli and cabbage to mature before the really cold weather settles in!!

  3. You still have quite a lot of produce coming. I hope the frost does not come too soon so that your other seeds will grow. We have had beautiful weather lately but so much to do before winter hits! Nancy

  5. I am pulling for the hidden watermelon to ripen soon. So hoping that frost stays away until you get what you need from the garden. We had an "almost" frost a few weeks ago and most of our night time temps are in the high 30s and 40s. I am so thankful for each and every frost free day we are granted.
